Welcome to Princess Frederica CE VA Primary School
Choosing the right school for your child is not easy.

We hope our prospectus will make your decision easier by giving you an idea of what it is like to be part of Princess Frederica Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School and what we are all trying to achieve.

The school was opened by Princess Frederica, a cousin of Queen Victoria, in 1889. It is a happy school with a warm atmosphere, where we strive to provide a high standard of education for all our children.

The school which is two-form entry and multi-cultural, is situated in a quiet residential area of Kensal Green. Most of our pupils live nearby, though some travel greater distances to attend.

At Princess Fredrica, we believe education is a partnership between school and parents/carers. For this reason, we encourage active relationships with families, which lead to higher standards and well-being for all the children in the school. We provide a stimulating environment where children are nurtured and challenged to achieve high standards in all areas of their learning.

All the staff and governors look forward to welcoming you and your child to Princess Frederica, and hope this will be the start of a long and happy association with the school.
  Aims and Ethos

Our school reflects the rich diversity of the locality and takes pleasure in its different cultures and languages.

Through our caring and stimulating environment, we encourage all children to develop into active and considerate members of society.

Each child and member of our school community is special.
  Together we aim to
- Encourage each child to achieve their full potential through active participation in all aspects of school life.

- Deliver high quality teaching in an environment that fosters an appetite for learning.

   THE CURRICULUM
Our curriculum is planned to promote learning and development within a Christian framework. Curriculum letters are sent home at the beginning of each term. During the year the children are assessed both formally and informally. We track each child's progress and involve children in their own target setting.

At the end of year six [Key Stage 2) the children take the statutory tests and the results are reported to you.
   ADMISSIONS
Our admission criteria is reviewed annually and attached to the admission application form.

In the spring term the Headteacher holds a meeting for new parents to visit the school.

We encourage parents/carers who wish their child to come to our school to make an appointment to look around and see the school in action. There will be a chance to talk with a governor and the Headteacher, who will discuss the expectations and ethos of the school and answer any questions you may have.
   BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT
At Princess Frederica we have school rules based on positive reinforcement, which are displayed in every classroom. Children are rewarded for following the rules, exemplary behaviour, good work and positive attitudes.

We expect children to follow the school rules. We have a house point system and all children are allocated to a house. These are named after famous people who have connections with our local area. We aim to enable the children to take responsibility for their own behaviour. Where children find this difficult a range of strategies is employed to support them. We will contact you if we have concerns about your child.

Copies of our Behaviour Management Policy are available for parents to read.
